I wonder if anyone here would like to see this movie. It has something to do with a Christian boy who starts ninjashotting upskirt photos so he has a sin to confess. It's also 237 minutes long.

Here's the trailer:

I love the bit where he's doing the martial arts training.

"I am a big fan of Jesus Christ. If he had a fan club, I would be the first member of the club for sure! For me, the Bible is like a legend of a rock star. Jesus is like a king or a star like John Lennon." - Sion Sono

He seems to have a thing for cults.

Which raises the question, is Christianity so uncommon it's considered a cult in Japan?

I think there's only flashes of cuteness (and panties) in this movie.

It's a comedy / drama with more of a "gritty" feel than a cutsie movie, Dave. I am sorry.

It doesn't really raise the question, there was the Catholic church and the cult in Love Exposure. Neither did much good in the film, though...

This makes me wonder if he's ever heard the famous quote that John Lennon got so much grief for - "I'm as big as Jesus"

I'm not sure I was understood correctly. I'm referring to the following definition of "cult":

QUOTE
a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister

Is Christianity uncommon enough to be considered a cult in Japan?

Ah, see I don't regard that as a cult at all, heh. Cult definition comes from how the individual relates to and is controlled by the group and it's leaders. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_checklist

I don't know anything about the pervasiveness of Christianity in Japan, but the movie did seem to make a distinction between the Catholic church and the cult.

We just finished the first disc (for some reason echan didn't download disc 2). These people are so messed up. This movie could be some kind of learning tool for psychologists or something.

The only thing I'm coming away from it with is that single fathers in Japan must be really horrible. Or at the least, people think they are.
