There will be a couple of bands from Japan playing at the NXNE festival this year.

Megababe and Stone Deaf

I have no clue who they are.

Yah. I posted that a few days ago.

I also have no idea who they are. Very obscure methinks.

Where are the Zoobombs!?

Jun 10th @ Yonge-Dundas Square (NXNE Indie Music Market); 12:00AM (technically June 11th)

I'm working through the whole festival. I'm stationed at The Reverb this year.

So..turns out I can't go to the free show for Megababe. They start when I start work! But the indie market starts at 8:00pm, so that's cool.

Also, I might hit the June 8th show at the ElMo. I love that venue.

Kenshin, since you're the expert here. Does it work like CMW in that each individual show has a cover if you don't have the wristband. Or do I need that wristband?

There's the one-day wristband for $15, and the three-day wristband for $28. Each venue has its own cover if you don't have a wristband, and that varies between $5 and $10.

If the venue is crowded, admission is in this priority:

1) badges (sponsors)
2) badges (conference attendees / volunteers / bands)
3) wristbands
4) hand-stamped re-entry
5) people paying cover

I suggest you buy a wristband. It gives you the option of venue-hopping, and enjoying all kinds of different bands.

Oh, and I've been re-stationed to Lee's Palace. (The second most important venue of the fest.)

Sweet deal on getting in Lee's.

Also, I only will be able to attend one show, which is why I wondered about the individual cover. I will be working throughout the rest of it.

So, did you get to see any of those bands you wanted to?

I saw Megababe at the free daytime concert at Yonge/Dundas Square. They were pretty entertaining. (Tried talking to them backstage, but they didn't speak much english.)

I talked to guys who were stationed at the Bovine and Silver Dollar Room, and they said the bands who played there (Electric Eel Shock and Stone Deaf) tore the roofs off.

Daaamn! I missed Electric Eel Shock!? I was searching that NXNE band list for up to a week before the festival started and never saw them. Boo.

Anyway, I never did get a chance to go to any.. I was hoping to at least get to the free Megababe show, but as was the reason I didn't see any, I was so tired after working all night. No way I could've enjoyed it.

I think the Bovine Sex Club, where Electric Eel Shock was playing, might have eaten you alive.

I was stationed there last year. One of my team members from last year was there again this year, and he managed to buy an awesome shirt from the band.

I didn't see all that many memorable bands this year, where I was stationed.
