Procyinさんはみんなの日本語をよみます。

Heh. Japanese politeness rules don't stop Procyin from talking in the third person. That is a good book that goes with set of Japnese texts we use in my course. Make particles and other grammar things easy as pie. Plus a lot of of it has to do with how good your sensei is.

Just from a personal perspective. After learning Japanese myself, and tutoring others. If grammar is your weakpoint, it would be easier to practice it when reading or writing. All grammar is, is memorizing structures. Japanese uses a lot of the same basic structures, so it is a little easier to see on paper that saying it. But it all depends on your way of learning. I am more visual, but actual applicable practice is good too.

I noticed that the site encodes some Japanese characters funny. Like it doesnt know what to do with them, or how to read them. Like the kanji for kekkou 結・#092;(けっこう)。When I wrote it above, I couldnt read it after I posted it, but it comes up as #092;. I wonder if it isjust that character.

Buy the text book to which one of my T.A.'s contributed!

http://www.almalang....anuels.html#jle

CAD$36 + $8 shipping

Why?

1. If you have a Japanese friend who is teaching you, the goal of this book is to facilitate that process -- providing topics, vocabulary, and grammar to discuss. Because it's hard to just sit a table and teach someone a langauge . That's what people try to do when I go to these conversation exchange things. But tonight we used this book, and it went much more smoothly. I'll scan the sample page I have sometime.

2. You buy it, NP +10.

Best way I know of to learn spoken Japanese is to 1. Move to Japan 2. Hire a Japanese/English teacher to give you private lessons 3. Give English lessons to Japanese people in order to pay for said private lessons 4. Rinse. 5. Repeat.

Seriously though, if you're still in college, look into a program like JET. It was one of the best things I ever did after I graduated, even if I did get stuck in the Japanese "inaka"

Alright, there's all the hiragana/katakana in romaji. Katakana is replaced with all-caps, hiragana with lowercase. I only recognize a few of the kanji, and I'd probably screw things up by replacing them with romaji, so someone else will have to do that (if anyone does).

Also, there were a couple of smaller hiragana that I left, because I have no idea what to do with them (tiny "u" and "i" -- ぅぃ). Someone care to explain the tiny vowels?

echan, the weird kana's a mistake, probably in encoding or by the Chinese who typed it out. Small kanas should be big, and some of the "shi"s should be small "tsu"s, like reshido senseeshiyon should have been reddo senseeshyon.

HEDO, whatcha doing listening to Yamaguchi Momoe? If you have the name of the album I imagine you should be able to google a romanized tracklist.

HA HA. OH WOW. I feel stupid now.

But about those small kana -- why are they in the character set then? I mean, I can type them out with xi or xu, so what're they for?

If I'd have paid any attention, I'd have realized this was a tracklist. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd probably have made myself look smarter by posting it. tongue.gif
