BestBuy is running a deal this week where if you buy a GameCube and any game $29.99 or up, you get a $20 BestBuy gift card. Animal Crossing is $29.99 anyhow, so there you go. I could then use the gift card to something like Wario Ware or Harvest Moon or whatnot.

So, should I buy one?

Pretty good deal. You can't just buy a system and no games. Gamcube is fun.

Well i think it's worth it just for Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. Two awsome games!

The system is okay in my book, but its weakness is for me - the lack of games that really appeal to ME. Same issue somewhat with the X-Box as well, but I think the 13 games I own for it have made that system a good purchase myself while the GC has only 5-6 games that I can see myself purchasing in my book.

I'll admit - the GameCube doesn't have a huge amount of games that I want. The problem is that every game that I do want, I really want, opposed to something like the Xbox, where most of the games that I want, are more mild cases of wanting.

and who says you "need" two systems? :P

I personally see myself waiting until the next GC price drop/pack in promo as the system does not have enough value for me at this point but I'm not saying that it doesn't to you. (certain games appeal to others more)

I will however caution and say that if the BB offer was a mail in offer, you are better off forgetting about that gift card.

Well, I'm the proud owner of a GameCube, and exactly two games. (Mario Sunshine and Wind Waker.) I'll likely be purchasing a third when the next 3D Zelda comes out next year.

The point being, these games are so good that they're worth buying an entire system for. Especially since GC has always been as cheap as or cheaper than competing systems. (I'd be a lot happier if Nintendo would just give up and make games for XBox and/or PS2, though.)

I really like my Xbox... a lot actually, but I love my GC. Of the big three it's the only one that I felt excited about the day it was purchased. If it has at least a few must-have games for you, then I say go for it. It's a steal even at $99 IMO.

No, it is instantly in store.

I don't "need" anything - but I want certain games, and those games are only on GameCube. Well, okay... I need Metroid Prime. *heh* But I also want Animal Crossing, Wario Ware, Harvest Moon, the RE games, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, and a few others.

There are enough games on the system that I can feel okay buying one. Plus, I'm not sure it is going to drop much cheaper anytime soon, and my urge to play Metroid Prime is growing too strong.

You are missing out by not playing Prime. =)

That $20 can go a long way if BB has a special or a sale. Some cube games are $20 or less.

I just wish that Metroid Prime was $19 at Best Buy. It is at Target, but it's still $29 at Best Buy.

Yeah, Metroid Prime is one game that I do want. Badly.

I told myself that when the next gen systems came out, that there had to be at least 10 games to come out for a system (or be announced) to warrent me to buy a system and unfortunately, thats where the GC fails for me.

Granted, the system is quite cheap at the moment and I doubt I won't get a system ever - its just how low of a price it goes to (or what its bundled with) so I think I might wait and see what the holiday season brings us...
