My favourite pineapple pop has been Pinapple Crush, which for some reason I've only found in Newfoundland. Maybe it's somewhere around here..I'd like to find it.

SINGAPORE SLING

The Singapore Sling was created at Raffles Hotel at the turn-of-the-century by Hainanese-Chinese bartender, Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon.

In the Hotel's museum, visitors may view the safe in which Mr. Ngiam locked away his precious recipe books, as well as the Sling recipe hastily jotted on a bar-chit in 1936 by a visitor to the Hotel who asked the waiter for it.

Originally, the Singapore Sling was meant as a woman's drink, hence the attractive pink colour. Today, it is very definately a drink enjoyed by all, without which any visit to Raffles Hotel is incomplete.

Recipe
30ml Gin
15 ml Cherry Brandy
120 ml Pineapple Juice
15 ml Lime Juice
7.5 ml Cointreau
7.5 ml Dom Benedictine
10 ml Grenadine
A Dash of Angostura Bitters
Garnish with a slice of Pineapple and Cherry

Well, now that summer is over I'm done with the book that Dunlap sent me - Howl's Moving Castle. So, does anyone else want to read it?

Also, it was really good. A lot more story to it than the movie. I still think the movie did a great job portraying the characters, but there's just so much more to the book.

Well, a month ago, I still either (a) had a working hard drive, or (B) hope that I could salvage my drive.

I've got the first couple episode of Papa, I just fear that stuff like this is the kind of thing that ends up drying up torrent wise. Hopefully I'll have an easier time getting stuff back than I'm afraid I will.

So I got my car put back together. Here's what I had to do to get the passenger side spindle nut off:

Having driven the car for a few days, I have to say: I can't recommend getting a lightened flywheel enough. There's a noticeable increase in power and the throttle feels more responsive. I've always heard people say lightened flywheels suck, because the car will idle rougher and it'll be way easier to stall when starting from a stop. But the idle really is only barely noticeably rougher, and I haven't stalled it yet.

I had a jacket that felt like the plastic-y stuff that pool covers are made out of! It was not terribly warm or comfortable, but it was strange looking and I enjoyed it. I think there was a warning tag about it being terribly flammable, so it might come in handy in case of emergency in Alaska. Because I cannot buy your things, dunlap, I will write a song about you instead! I'm not so sure about getting money just for being there, but even with no sales and income tax the cost of living is supposed to be quite high... I expect around the same as Boston, except with nasty heating bills. How long we'll stay, we don't really know. We're thinking about Fairbanks. We're going to need warmer clothes.

Well, it's terribly pretty and I've always wanted to go! That and the fact that I've found someone who's willing to go with me is reason enough in and of itself. I have nothing left to tie me to Boston, I've been done with college for a little while now and everyone else I know here is finishing up or done as well. People begin to file out one by one, and... well, as much as I love life here, I could use a change of scenery. After 5 years of the urban thing, I could use some time in the middle of nowhere, seeing beautiful things. It's just the beginning of many travels to come! As long as I make enough to pay rent and eat, I'll be fine. I feel like it's an adventure I can't afford not to have.

But next fall, I'm going back to Pennsylvania for sure. I've gone half a decade without a Pennsylvania fall. That's too long for me.

So, it isn't hard to tell I haven't been around much lately. Like, I mean, more so than usual. The reason is simple: I've been busting my ass to try to - with the help of super-cool gomo member echan - put together an entirely new website for Play. That entails designing the site, building the site, and converting all of the old content over to the new site, and except for those parts where echan has indeed helped me out, I've been all on my own. So, I've been rather swamped.

Why am I telling you this? To whine about it? No, I'm telling you this because there's one side effect coming from all of the work I've put into the new Play site: at the exact same time, I'm building the new website for us. Well, okay... not the exact same time, but the backend that has been put together for this site will be the foundation upon which our new site will be built. Change a few things up, make the design more our style, and voila. So, basically, it's the closest we've ever been to possibly having an actual site up and running.

Oh yea, I didn't want those, I'll have to remove them from the rest of my tags, though. I had used a Kanji converting site first and the ones that I asked for here were the ones that it couldn't convert. Hmm, I'm not really into any old Japanese groups, though. The oldest one before her was Malice Mizer and they're just from the 90s. I'm still not sure if I like her, though. I only heard a song or too briefly. I hope I like her music, though, since she's so hot =).

But about those small kana -- why are they in the character set then? I mean, I can type them out with xi or xu, so what're they for?

If I'd have paid any attention, I'd have realized this was a tracklist. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd probably have made myself look smarter by posting it.

echan, the weird kana's a mistake, probably in encoding or by the Chinese who typed it out. Small kanas should be big, and some of the "shi"s should be small "tsu"s, like reshido senseeshiyon should have been reddo senseeshyon.

Alright, there's all the hiragana/katakana in romaji. Katakana is replaced with all-caps, hiragana with lowercase. I only recognize a few of the kanji, and I'd probably screw things up by replacing them with romaji, so someone else will have to do that (if anyone does).

Also, there were a couple of smaller hiragana that I left, because I have no idea what to do with them (tiny "u" and "i" -- ��). Someone care to explain the tiny vowels?

I found this really cool service for introducing music to people called Muxtape. The way it works is this: you get a "muxtape" with 12 slots for songs and the songs on it are uploaded from your computer. Then, just give people your muxtape and they can stream all the music you uploaded. It's so cool. I also like that on the main page there are randomly generated users' muxtapes (I think it's random) and you can just scroll around and find new music. I found a few new artists that I liked this way. Here is their website:

I had my first "jam session" today! A friend of mine from high school came over today and brought his amp and he was pretty good since he had been playing since he was around 11. We used Guitar Pro to learn "A Certain Romance" by the Arctic Monkeys. I already knew the whole part for the lead so I was just helping him get the rhythm right for, well, the rhythm guitar since he never heard the song before. It was so fun. By the end we played the whole song and it sounded nice. What's cooler is that he said he has a friend that plays drums so he called him and he should be coming over next weekend so we can play the song alongside him. I'm worried that our small amps will be drowned out by the drums but I have huge speakers connected to the stereo in the basement that I can plug the guitars into and so it should work just fine. I can't wait!

Seems like I read somewhere that the term "weeaboo", as used on 4chan is actually derived from that comic (that, and a supposed "wapanese"->"weeaboo" word filter).
